Harry Brook of England has been banned from the IPL for two years
England batsman Harry Brook has been handed a two-year ban from the Indian Premier League after withdrawing at the last moment to prioritize international cricket, local media reported on Friday.

The 26-year-old, seen as a leading contender to succeed Jos Buttler as England's white-ball captain, was set to play for Delhi Capitals in the upcoming IPL season starting next week. Brook had also withdrawn from his contract with Delhi last season following the passing of his grandmother.
An official from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) told the Indian Express that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has been informed of Brook’s ban. The official stated that the ban aligns with a policy communicated to all players before registering for last year’s IPL auction, aimed at preventing last-minute withdrawals by overseas players.
Exceptions to the rule are generally granted for injuries. This week, Brook issued an apology on social media, expressing his regret to Delhi Capitals and their fans for pulling out in order to "recharge" and focus on international cricket.
Brook previously played one IPL season with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2023, where he scored a 55-ball century against Kolkata Knight Riders.
The 2025 IPL kicks off on March 22, with defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders facing Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens.
