Fakhrul warns: religion must not be used to fracture national unity
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has accused a vested quarter of trying to sow division in Bangladesh by exploiting religion.
Speaking at an event at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) auditorium in Farmgate on Sunday (7 December), Fakhrul said, “We are a religious-minded people, but we reject any attempt to divide the state in the name of religion.”
He said that, for the first time in 15 years, there is a real opportunity to restore democracy, though significant challenges still lie ahead.
Fakhrul alleged that propaganda campaigns against the BNP continue, urging heightened vigilance online and asserting that the BNP is the only party capable of steering the country forward. He also called for the reconstruction of institutions he said were damaged under Awami League rule.
The BNP leader noted a shift in the mindset of young people, saying there is now a strong demand for change. He added that old state structures have become ineffective and emphasised reorganising the BNP with fresh ideas to realise the vision of a “New Bangladesh.”
