Shakib Anticipates Fierce T20I Battle Against Pakistan

Star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan anticipates a closely contested T20I series between Bangladesh and Pakistan, pointing to the presence of several promising young players on both sides. Bangladesh is set to tour Pakistan later this week for a three-match series under the lights at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium from May 28 to June 1.
The Tigers are scheduled to arrive in Lahore on May 25, with training sessions planned for the 26th and 27th in preparation for what Shakib described as an "exciting" encounter against a dynamic Pakistan side. “Both teams have some exciting young players who will be eager to perform. I’m really looking forward to it,” Shakib said in an interview with Geo TV.
Currently in Pakistan for the PSL, Shakib is using the league to ease back into competitive cricket after a break. He returned during the high-stakes playoff stage, acknowledging the challenge of readjusting. “Coming back after a break is exciting, but your body needs time to adjust,” he noted. “I felt a bit off initially, but I think I pulled through well after the first game.”
Reflecting on his PSL journey, Shakib spoke about a recent crucial win that secured his team’s qualification. “It’s only been a few days, but we had a crucial win — exactly what we needed to qualify. Tomorrow is another big match, and we’re taking it one game at a time.”
The veteran cricketer, who has featured in franchise leagues around the world, praised the PSL’s evolution. “The league has grown significantly over the past decade — I’ve seen that progress firsthand,” he said, adding that the camaraderie in the dressing room has been particularly enjoyable this season.
Looking ahead, Shakib confirmed he plans to stay active in franchise cricket. “I’ve signed a few contracts, so I’ll definitely be playing more league cricket in the coming months,” he added.
