KUET Interim VC Steps Down Following Protests

Professor Dr. Md Hazrat Ali, the interim vice-chancellor of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), has resigned amid continued protests by faculty members. KUET Registrar Engineer Md Anisur Rahman Bhuiyan confirmed that Dr. Ali submitted his resignation to the Ministry of Education earlier today.

Dr. Ali, a professor at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), was appointed interim VC of KUET on May 1 and assumed office on May 3. His appointment followed the removal of former VC Prof. Dr. Muhammad Masud and Pro-VC Prof. Dr. Sheikh Shariful Alam by the Ministry of Education on April 25, in response to student protests.

Despite the leadership change, unrest on campus continued. Dr. Ali left KUET on May 19 for official duties in Dhaka, amid the ongoing tensions.
