Shafiqul Alam Denounces Assault on Nur

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam has strongly condemned the attack on Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur. In a Facebook post on Friday night, he described Nur as “a courageous voice of our time” and recalled his pivotal role as a student leader in the 2018 anti-quota reform movement, which inspired a generation to resist injustice. Shafiqul noted that Nur and his party also stood by the people during the July uprising, symbolizing the struggle for democracy, accountability, and dignity. He further said Nur’s arrest and torture in custody during the uprising represented not only a grave violation of human rights but also an attack on the people’s democratic aspirations under the “fascist Hasina regime.” Expressing hope for justice, Shafiqul said he was confident the authorities would investigate the attack.
