The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) has called on citizens to report social media posts that incite terrorism or violence, with the reporting mechanism set to become operational from tomorrow.

Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant for the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, announced in a Facebook post that the NCSA will begin accepting reports directly via WhatsApp and email starting tomorrow.

“Reports can be sent through WhatsApp at 01308332592 or via email to notify@ncsa.gov.bd,” he said.

According to the agency, once the reported content undergoes preliminary verification, it will be forwarded to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), which will then submit it to the relevant social media platforms.

Taiyeb clarified that the government does not have the authority to directly remove social media content. Instead, it can flag posts linked to violence to the concerned platforms by providing reasonable grounds.

He also noted that hate speech which directly incites violence or calls for violent acts is a punishable offence under the National Cyber Security Ordinance 2025.

The NCSA further urged people not to use social media as a means to incite violence and called on citizens to remain vigilant in safeguarding national security, as well as the lives and property of the public.
