Garment Workers Block Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway Over Unpaid Salaries

Traffic on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway came to a standstill for nearly an hour on Wednesday morning after workers of a garment factory blocked the road demanding unpaid wages.
Witnesses said around 150–200 workers of Bulbul Knitting and Sewing Ltd began their protest around 7:00 am at Dighirpar in the Bason area, halting vehicular movement.
The workers alleged that their August salaries, due by September 10, had not been disbursed, forcing them to demonstrate. Police from the Industrial unit and Bason Police Station rushed to the spot to defuse tensions.
Traffic flow resumed around 8:00 am after the workers left the road following assurances from police, said Bason Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Shaheen Khan.
