National Charter Holds Potential to Drive State Reforms: Prof Ali Riaz
Prof Ali Riaz Emphasizes Dialogue and National Charter as Path to State Reform
Vice-Chairman of the National Consensus Commission, Prof Ali Riaz, emphasized today that constructive dialogue and consensus-building can pave the way for the creation of a national charter. Speaking at the commencement of a dialogue session with the National Democratic Movement (NDM) at the LD Hall of the National Parliament, Prof Riaz stated that such a charter could lead the country towards long-anticipated state reform.
He noted that the Commission aims to finalize the framework for the national charter swiftly, ideally concluding the initial round of discussions by mid-May, ahead of the Commission’s term ending in mid-July. He also described this stage as the beginning of a phased dialogue process, aimed at reaching common ground through continued engagement.
The session saw participation from eight NDM representatives, led by party chairman Bobby Hajjaj. Expressing support, Hajjaj stated that the NDM agrees with most elements of the Commission’s proposals and seeks to approach the reforms with a broad, inclusive perspective.
