Interim government welcomes WHO decision to place Saima Wazed on leave

The interim government on Saturday welcomed the World Health Organization’s reported decision to place Saima Wazed on indefinite leave, pending an investigation into "serious allegations of fraud, forgery, and abuse of power."

“This marks a crucial first step towards ensuring accountability,” said Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser.

He added that both the people of Bangladesh and the international community are encouraged by this move towards transparency, integrity, and justice.

In a post from his verified Facebook account, Alam further stated that a lasting solution is essential—one that entails Saima Wazed’s removal from her position, the withdrawal of all related privileges, and the restoration of integrity to this esteemed post and to the credibility of the broader UN system.
