CA Returns Home After 9-Day Visit To New York

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus returned home today after completing a nine-day visit to New York, where he attended the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
An Emirates Airlines commercial flight carrying the Chief Adviser and his delegation landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 9:00 am, Deputy Press Secretary Abdul Kalam Azad Majumder confirmed. The flight had earlier departed John F. Kennedy International Airport at 11:10 pm (local time) on Tuesday.
Bangladesh’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury, and Ambassador to the USA, Tareq Md Ariful Islam, saw him off at the airport in New York.
During the visit, Prof Yunus addressed the UNGA on September 26 and spoke at the High-Level Conference on the Situation of the Rohingya Muslims and Other Minorities in Myanmar on September 30. He also met UN Secretary General António Guterres on September 29, while UNHCR chief Filippo Grandi and UN Under-Secretary-General Rabab Fatima also held meetings with him.
Prof Yunus attended a reception hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump, where he invited the President to visit Bangladesh. He also held bilateral meetings with leaders of several countries, including the Netherlands, Pakistan, Bhutan, and Kosovo.
The Chief Adviser had left Dhaka for New York on September 22 to participate in the UNGA session.
