Tarique Rahman Vows Inclusive Governance if BNP Wins Next Election
Acting chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Tarique Rahman, stated on Tuesday that if his party is elected in the next general election, it will form a government inclusive of those who have faced oppression over the past 17 years while ensuring the rights of people from all religious backgrounds.
"If we come to power, we will establish a government with the oppressed and guarantee the rights of all Bangladeshis, regardless of their faith," he said. Tarique made these remarks while addressing a virtual workshop on state structure reform, based on BNP’s 31-point demands, at a convention center in Satkhira district town. The event was organized by BNP’s central training affairs committee.
He emphasized that the 31-point demands were formulated in consultation with BNP’s political alliance, comprising various parties.
"BNP is not just the party of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia, or any individual—it belongs to everyone present here and to BNP leaders and activists across the country," he asserted.
Tarique urged party leaders and activists to take BNP’s 31-point demands to the people nationwide before the upcoming general election.
Additionally, he pledged to build a railway line in Satkhira district and introduce financial support cards for women if elected, enabling them to support their children’s education and healthcare.
The event was attended by BNP Chairperson’s adviser and former secretary Md Ismail Zabiullah, central publication secretary and former lawmaker Habibul Islam Habib, training affairs secretary ABM Mosharraf Hossain, and other central leaders.
Satkhira district BNP convener Advocate Syed Iftekhar Ali presided over the event, with district leaders including Sheikh Tarikul Hasan, Abdul Alim, former Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal central president Fazlur Rahman Khokon, and former general secretary Iqbal Hossain Shyamal also in attendance.
