Beximco workers end highway blockade after receiving their salaries
Workers of Beximco Industrial Park ended their blockade at the Kashimpur Chakraborty intersection on the Dhaka-Tangail highway last night after receiving their pending salaries. The eight-day-long protest concluded when the factory authorities paid the outstanding wages. Khalilur Rahman, Additional Superintendent of Police in the Gazipur Industrial Area, confirmed that workers began receiving their payments yesterday evening, prompting them to lift the blockade.
Efforts to contact the Beximco Industrial Park authorities for comments were unsuccessful. According to industrial police, the park employs around 41,000 workers across its garment and ceramic factories. The workers had blocked the Dhaka-Tangail highway again yesterday, demanding their unpaid October salaries.
