Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus and Chinese President Xi Jinping held bilateral talks on Friday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, discussing a wide range of bilateral, regional, and global issues.  

Both leaders explored ways to further strengthen ties between Bangladesh and China, aiming to elevate relations while safeguarding mutual and strategic interests, according to UNB.  

Their discussions covered key areas, including trade and investment expansion, agriculture, infrastructure development, renewable energy cooperation, and the Rohingya crisis, with a shared vision of opening a new chapter in relations.  

During the meeting, Yunus urged China to take a more active role in fostering peace, prosperity, and stability for both nations. He also extended warm greetings to Xi Jinping on behalf of Bangladesh and its people.  

Reflecting on his longstanding ties with China, the chief adviser highlighted his involvement in introducing Grameen Bank and social business initiatives in the country. He particularly emphasized the Rohingya crisis, calling for China’s strong support in ensuring the safe and dignified repatriation of Rohingyas to Myanmar.
