World Youth Skills Day to be Celebrated Tomorrow
World Youth Skills Day will be observed tomorrow with the aim of promoting the importance of skill development among young people.
This year’s theme is “Youth Empowerment Through Digital Skills and Artificial Intelligence (AI).”
Observed every year on July 15, World Youth Skills Day highlights the critical importance of equipping youth with the skills necessary for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship.
Today’s young generation faces the dual challenge of navigating career uncertainties while being heavily influenced by social media. The day serves as a reminder that traditional academic paths alone are not enough—it emphasizes the need to acquire practical, hands-on skills to be future-ready.
Following the July mass uprising, the Interim Government has undertaken several initiatives to transform youth into valuable human resources and ensure employment opportunities in a new, inclusive Bangladesh.
In alignment with domestic and international labor market demands, the government is offering training programs to equip young people with relevant skills and create job opportunities.
In addition, the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) is working to build a robust skills development ecosystem through collaboration between the public and private sectors.
The day underscores the need to prepare the youth for evolving work environments and to nurture entrepreneurial mindsets, with the broader goal of building a modern and developed Bangladesh.
The United Nations General Assembly declared July 15 as World Youth Skills Day in 2014 to promote employment opportunities for youth through technical expertise, vocational education, and training.
