Three dead, 15 injured in two-bus collision in Faridpur

A head-on collision between two passenger buses on the Dhaka–Khulna highway in Faridpur’s Kanaipur area left three people dead and at least 15 others injured on Thursday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 12:30 PM on the newly constructed bridge in Kanaipur when a Dhaka-bound “Royal Express” bus from Jashore collided with a Chuadanga-bound “Darshana Deluxe” bus coming from Dhaka, according to police, fire service officials, and local sources. A woman died instantly, while two men succumbed to their injuries after being taken to hospital.

The impact caused severe traffic congestion on the highway, which was later eased by police and fire service personnel.

Eyewitnesses reported that three people died on the spot and at least 15 passengers sustained injuries. Faridpur Fire Service Senior Station Officer Md. Nazrul Islam confirmed the toll, saying the injured were taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital. The identities of the victims have yet to be determined.

Karimpur Highway Police OC Md. Salauddin Chowdhury said further details would be shared once the names and identities of the deceased and injured are confirmed.
