Polls to be held in first half of April next year: Chief Adviser

Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus announced on Friday that the next general elections will take place in the first half of April next year. In an address to the nation on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha, he urged citizens to vote for candidates genuinely committed to building a "New Bangladesh."
He encouraged voters to begin discussions now to identify the most suitable candidates, calling for an end to the deep-rooted culture of party-backed violence, corruption, extortion, and politicization.
Yunus noted that while the elections will feature the usual political parties and symbols, voters must choose leaders who will uphold the country's sovereignty rather than seek foreign favour.
