Fakhrul: BNP and the nation disheartened by April election schedule

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the chief adviser's announcement of an April election date has disappointed not just his party, but the entire nation.

Speaking to reporters at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on his return from Thailand, where he was undergoing medical treatment, Fakhrul said the public had been expecting an earlier timeline.

"The BNP has consistently called for holding elections at the earliest possible date. We were hoping Dr Muhammad Yunus would announce a December election. But clearly, this April schedule has disappointed not only the BNP, but people across the country," he said.
