KUET files lawsuits against 400 individuals for assaulting students.

Authorities at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) have filed a lawsuit against 400 unidentified individuals in connection with Tuesday's attacks on the university's general students.
The case was filed by the university’s Security Inspector, Md Moniruzzaman Liton, with the Khan Jahan Ali police station on Wednesday night, according to KUET’s Public Relations Officer, Shahaduzzaman.
To investigate the attacks, the university administration has set up a four-member committee and instructed it to submit a report within three working days, as announced in a media release issued on Wednesday night.
These decisions were made during the 93rd emergency syndicate meeting, chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mashud. The meeting also led to resolutions to identify those responsible for the attacks, maintain the ongoing ban on campus politics for teachers, students, and others, and to dismiss any staff members found to be involved in politics after investigation. Additionally, students found guilty could face permanent expulsion and cancellation of their studentship.
Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, at least 50 students were injured during violent clashes between general students and the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of the BNP, over the ongoing ban on student politics. During the clashes, outsiders, allegedly BNP members, reportedly joined JCD activists and attacked the students.
Due to rising tensions, KUET authorities have suspended academic activities until February 28.
