Khaleda Zia’s Foreign Travel Hinges on Her Medical Clearance: Zahid

Former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s planned medical travel abroad hinges entirely on her current health condition, which remains the overriding priority, her personal physician Dr AZM Zahid Hossain said on Saturday.

“The Qatari air ambulance could not come due to a technical problem. At the same time, the medical board held an emergency meeting and concluded that it was not the right moment for her to travel,” Zahid told reporters in the afternoon.

He said the air ambulance is now prepared, but ensuring Khaleda Zia’s safety during treatment remains the foremost concern.

Both local and foreign physicians involved in her care are placing paramount importance on her physical condition, he added.

Zahid, also a BNP Standing Committee member, urged the public not to be swayed by rumours regarding Khaleda Zia’s health.

Recalling that the three-time former prime minister has recovered from even more critical conditions in the past, he expressed confidence that she will make a full recovery this time as well.
