Salahuddin Ahmed has said the government has undertaken a range of initiatives to modernise the Coast Guard, underscoring its vital role in safeguarding the country’s coastal regions.
He made the remarks on Tuesday while addressing the 31st anniversary programme of the Coast Guard in Agargaon, Dhaka.
The minister noted that the government remains committed to the force’s overall development and is actively working to enhance its capabilities through modernisation.
He also announced plans to recruit 10,000 new personnel to strengthen the force.
He added that with increased manpower and improved modern facilities, the Coast Guard will be better equipped and more effective in carrying out its duties in coastal security.
