Hawkers Clash with DNCC Officials During Mirpur Eviction Drive

A clash erupted between hawkers and officials of the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) during an eviction drive in Mirpur, Dhaka, on Wednesday.

The drive began at around 10am, covering the area from Mirpur-10 to Mirpur-14, as part of the DNCC’s efforts to remove illegal encroachments from footpaths and roads.

Witnesses said tensions escalated at one point when hawkers clashed with city corporation officials and law enforcement personnel.

During the confrontation, a DNCC vehicle was set ablaze and a police vehicle was vandalised, according to witnesses.

Mirpur Model Police Station Duty Officer Md Shahidul Islam confirmed the incident.
