Government to deploy army personnel in selected areas around AL’s founding anniversary
The order stated that the situation could result in a deterioration of law and order.
The government has decided to deploy army personnel in six key areas, including the Dhaka and Chattogram metropolitan areas, to maintain law and order ahead of the founding anniversary of the ousted Awami League.
In an urgent order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday, the deployment was approved following reports of possible unrest and violence by banned organisations through processions, road blockades and other activities in different parts of the country. The order noted that such incidents could worsen the law-and-order situation in several districts and cause public hardship.
Army personnel will be deployed from June 22 to June 30 in the Dhaka, Chattogram and Gazipur metropolitan areas, as well as Narayanganj, Gopalganj and Faridpur districts.
According to the order, the deployment is intended to help ensure public safety and maintain stability during the specified period.
