EC announces revised election timetable for Pabna-1 and Pabna-2
The Election Commission (EC) has unveiled a revised election timetable for the Pabna-1 and Pabna-2 constituencies ahead of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections, acting on directives from the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court.
The development was disclosed in a gazette notification signed by EC Secretariat Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed on Thursday night. The notification said the updated schedule was finalised by cancelling the relevant sections of the earlier gazette issued on December 11, 2025, in compliance with an Appellate Division order passed on January 15, 2026.
Under the revised schedule, January 18 has been set as the final date for submitting nomination papers to the returning or assistant returning officers, while scrutiny of nominations will take place on January 19.
Candidates aggrieved by the scrutiny decisions may file appeals between January 20 and January 24, with all appeals to be disposed of by January 25.
January 26 has been fixed as the deadline for withdrawal of candidature, and election symbols will be allocated on January 27.
According to the EC Secretariat, polling in both constituencies will be held on February 12, 2026, from 7:30am to 4:30pm without a break. Voting will be conducted using transparent ballot boxes and ballot papers.
The EC said the fresh programme has been announced under the Representation of the People Order, 1972, following an Appellate Division order related to Civil Petition for Leave to Appeal No. 190 of 2026.
