In response to Israel’s brutal attacks on Gaza, Palestine, several protests took place today (Monday) near the US embassy in Dhaka, showing solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The demonstrations began around 11:00am and were still ongoing as of 1:45pm.
At that time, a group of students from United International University gathered near the footbridge opposite the embassy, chanting slogans like "Free, free Palestine," "Slap Trump on both cheeks in rhythm," and "Who are we? Who are you? Palestine, Palestine," expressing strong condemnation of Israel's actions in Gaza.
Earlier, around 11:30am, another group of young protesters staged a demonstration in the Gulshan area, blocking traffic in front of the embassy. Police were deployed to maintain order. Students from Presidency University, University of Information Technology and Sciences, and Bangladesh Navy College, Dhaka, also joined later in the morning, sitting on the road near the embassy under police supervision.
Since morning, military personnel had been stationed in front of the embassy, forming a human barricade and conducting security checks on passersby.
According to Gulshan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahmudur Rahman, protests began in the Vatara area around 10:00am and continued throughout the day, with small groups arriving, demonstrating, and dispersing.
