CA calls for unified action to achieve world-class telecom and IT services

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Friday called for collective efforts to develop world-class telecommunications and information technology services across all sectors. He emphasized that the interim government is dedicated to advancing the country’s telecom and IT industries while maintaining transparency and accountability in all related activities.
Speaking ahead of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, which Bangladesh will observe on Saturday under the theme “Gender Equality in Digital Transformation,” Prof. Yunus expressed his pleasure that the country is joining the global celebration.
He highlighted the importance of equal participation of men and women in all areas of digital transformation and telecommunication services as essential for building a modern, discrimination-free society. The chief adviser affirmed the interim government’s commitment to ensuring equal opportunities and rights in the digital realm, inspired by the spirit of the July mass uprising. He noted that this is why the theme of gender equality in digital transformation is particularly meaningful.
Prof. Yunus also mentioned various initiatives underway, such as launching IT services through union information and service centers nationwide, ‘She-STEM’ training programs for female students, and special freelancing training for women entrepreneurs.
He further pointed out that Bangladesh’s planned connection to satellite-based high-speed internet will mark a major milestone in providing uninterrupted internet access even to remote and hard-to-reach areas.
Concluding, Prof. Yunus expressed his strong belief that through united efforts, Bangladesh can become an inclusive, progressive nation grounded in equality, with digital equality leading the way toward sustainable development.
