Army Chief Returns Home After Four-Day Japan Visit

Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman returned home on Sunday night after concluding a four-day official visit to Japan.

During his visit, the army chief attended the grand opening ceremony of the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

He also held a bilateral meeting with Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). The two discussed issues concerning the sports sector as well as matters of mutual interest.

General Waker-Uz-Zaman further participated in an exchange meeting with presidents of Olympic associations from various countries.

Officials said the high-level visit and meetings are expected to help advance Bangladesh’s sports sector, broaden international cooperation and strengthen the country’s engagement in the global sporting arena.
