The Home Ministry urges foreigners residing illegally to acquire legal documentation by January 31
The Home Ministry on Thursday called on foreign nationals residing and working illegally in Bangladesh to obtain legal documentation by January 31, 2025.
In a warning notice issued by Md Khuda Baksh Chowdhury, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser (equivalent to State Minister), the ministry stated: "It has come to notice that many foreign nationals are residing or working in Bangladesh without proper documentation. Such individuals are urged to secure the necessary permits to regularize their stay or work in the country by January 31, 2025."
The notice further warned that after the deadline, "legal actions will be taken against individuals staying illegally as well as the institutions involved."
The ministry also called on all relevant departments and institutions to extend their cooperation in addressing the issue.
