Dhaka strongly denounces the deadly attack on Bangladeshi peacekeepers in Sudan

Bangladesh today strongly condemned the deadly attack on its peacekeepers serving under the United Nations (UN) mission in Sudan.

Six Bangladeshi peacekeepers were killed and eight others injured in a drone strike on a UN base in Abyei, Sudan.

In a press release issued tonight, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Bangladesh mourns the loss of its brave sons and extends deep condolences to the bereaved families, while offering prayers for the swift recovery of those injured.

The ministry said the government, through its Permanent Mission to the UN in New York, has urged the United Nations to ensure the highest standard of medical care for the wounded peacekeepers.

It added that the Bangladesh Mission in New York is in close coordination with the UN and working jointly to provide all necessary support to the Bangladeshi peacekeeping contingent deployed in Sudan.
