BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has reaffirmed his party’s commitment to building a democratic, inclusive, fair, and liveable Bangladesh.

"Together, we aim to create a discrimination-free, inclusive, and liberal society that is democratic, fair, liveable, and enjoyable for all," he said during a virtual address to a group of individuals with physical disabilities at the Agargaon LGED auditorium in Dhaka on Saturday. Tarique joined the program remotely from London.

He emphasized the BNP’s vision of fostering a social system where everyone can achieve their full potential. "As a political activist, I assure you that no one will face physical obstacles or be left behind in the Bangladesh we envision," he added.

Tarique further stated that if the BNP comes to power, it will establish a dedicated directorate to coordinate efforts across ministries and departments, ensuring the implementation of programs for individuals with disabilities.

"Our goal is to create a dignified, capable, and prosperous society for people with special needs. My party and I deeply understand the real and profound challenges you face," he said.

He outlined specific initiatives the BNP would undertake, including establishing specialized units in district hospitals, deploying mobile health clinics in remote areas, setting up factories for assistive device production, and introducing training programs to enhance the skills and abilities of children with disabilities.

"You are not disabled; you are capable citizens with immense potential. If elected, the BNP will guarantee your civil rights and privileges, equal to all other citizens of the country," Tarique assured.

He also stressed the importance of collective efforts to move the nation forward, ensuring that people with disabilities play an integral role in building a better Bangladesh.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir echoed these sentiments, stating the party’s unwavering commitment to creating an inclusive society that protects the rights of all. He added that the BNP, if in power, would take decisive measures to address the issues faced by individuals with disabilities, eliminate discrimination, and improve their quality of life.

The event, which included over 150 participants with disabilities, was moderated by Salma Mahbub, General Secretary of the Protibondhi Nagorik Shangathaner Parishad.

Participants shared their daily struggles, including challenges related to transportation, access to government services, education, societal attitudes, and discrimination. They highlighted the pressing need for systemic changes to improve their lives and foster inclusivity.
