Students block Mirpur Road, calling for merit-based admissions

Students of Mohammadpur Residential School and College in Dhaka have blocked Mirpur Road in front of their institution, demanding merit-based admissions, according to police sources.
After breaking open the entrance gate, the students took to the street, causing traffic congestion on both sides of Mirpur Road around 10:30 am.
Ali Iftekhar Hasan, officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur Model Police Station, stated that efforts were underway to calm the protesting students.
As of 11:10 am, the blockade was still ongoing.
Earlier, the students had launched an online campaign in support of their demands and followed through with the planned blockade.
