Rizvi inquires about your role in 1971

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has questioned Jamaat-e-Islami’s involvement in the 1971 Liberation War.

“What was your role in 1971? In which sector did you fight? Under which sector commander?” he asked while speaking at an event hosted by 'Amra BNP Paribar' in Sylhet on Thursday.

His comments followed a statement by Jamaat chief Shafiqur Rahman, who recently claimed that only Jamaat and the army are patriots in the country.

Rizvi acknowledged the army’s patriotism, recognizing that their predecessors fought for Bangladesh’s independence and played a role in the July 2024 uprising.

He then challenged Jamaat’s patriotism, urging the party to clarify its contributions during the liberation war.

BNP leaders Khandakar Abdul Muktadir, G K Gaus, and Abdul Kayyum Chowdhury, among others, were present at the event.
