Movement along the Bangladesh border in Tripura has been restricted

The district magistrate of West Tripura has issued a prohibitory order restricting public movement within 500 meters of the India-Bangladesh border in the Agartala and Mohanpur sub-divisions from 8 pm to 5 am, effective from Sunday until December 19.
This decision follows the recent arrest of several Bangladeshi nationals who illegally crossed into Tripura or attempted to flee to other Indian states. Dr. Vishal Kumar, the West Tripura DM, expressed concerns that miscreants might exploit the extensive border area to create law and order issues. He emphasized the need to restrict movement along the border during late hours to protect human life and maintain public order.
Security forces, government officials on duty, and essential service providers are exempt from this restriction. Violations will be prosecuted under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Naya Sanhita, Kumar added.
