176 Bangladeshis To Return From Libya Today
They Were Held At Tajura Detention Centre On Charges Of Illegal Stay In Libya
A total of 176 Bangladeshis are on their way to Dhaka after being released from a detention centre for illegal migrants in Libya.
The Bangladeshis are scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday morning on a Buraq Airlines flight from Tripoli, the Bangladesh embassy in Libya confirmed. The flight departed Tripoli on Wednesday, embassy sources said.
Their release was secured through joint efforts of the Bangladesh embassy, Libyan authorities, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The group had been held at Tripoli’s Tajura Detention Centre.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Libya Major General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Khairul Bashar saw off the migrants at the Libyan migration department’s office.
He urged them not to repeat such actions in the future, warning of the harmful consequences of illegal migration not only for individuals but also for their families and the country’s reputation.
