Ramisa murder case: Law Minister orders probe report within one week.
Asaduzzaman Khan, the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, has directed the Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police to submit an investigation report within one week regarding the rape and murder of a seven-year-old girl in the capital’s Pallabi area.
Speaking on Thursday (21 May), the minister said necessary measures would be taken to ensure the case is tried and resolved as quickly as possible.
The victim, Ramisa Akter, was killed in a neighbouring apartment in Pallabi, Mirpur, on Tuesday (19 May). The prime accused, Sohel Rana (34), gave a confessional statement before a court on Wednesday (20 May), where he reportedly admitted to sexually assaulting and killing the child.
According to his statement, he also tried to cut the body into pieces in an attempt to hide the crime and destroy evidence.
