Trump announces he will reveal a series of tariffs within the next month or possibly sooner

On Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced he will unveil tariffs on items such as lumber, cars, semiconductors, and pharmaceuticals "within the next month or sooner."

At a Miami conference, Trump stated, "I'll be announcing tariffs on cars, semiconductors, chips, pharmaceuticals, drugs, lumber, and possibly some other things within the next month or sooner." However, he offered no further details.

Since taking office again on January 20, Trump has imposed several tariffs and made frequent threats to levy additional duties on imports. These tariffs vary in scope, from broad measures like a universal tariff on foreign goods to more targeted actions aimed at specific sectors, regions, or countries, often intended to pressure others to comply with his policies.

Trump's fluctuating threats have left nations and businesses uncertain about future actions. Some economists have raised concerns that his expansive tariff approach could contribute to inflation.
