The Chief Adviser has directed authorities to take immediate action to apprehend those involved in the attack on Osman Hadi.
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has instructed law enforcement agencies to move quickly to identify and arrest those responsible for the shooting of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho and an independent candidate for Dhaka-8, in the capital’s Bijoynagar area.
He ordered an immediate, comprehensive investigation, including collecting evidence from the scene, recording eyewitness accounts, reviewing CCTV footage, and determining whether the attack was part of a coordinated plot. “No act of violence intended to disrupt the election will be tolerated,” Prof Yunus said. “We are duty-bound to ensure public safety and guarantee candidates’ freedom of movement. Those responsible will be held accountable.”
Expressing deep concern, the Chief Adviser said the attack was unacceptable during the election period and a troubling blow to the country’s peaceful political atmosphere.
He also directed authorities to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured Osman Hadi and asked the Ministry of Health to closely monitor his condition.
Prof Yunus called on political parties, activists, supporters and citizens to maintain calm and exercise restraint so the upcoming national election can proceed in a peaceful, participatory and secure environment.
