Tensions Flare in Jazira as Over a Hundred Hand Bombs Detonated in Power Struggle
15-Second Clip of Clash and Hand Bomb Blasts Goes Viral on Social Media

A violent clash broke out between two rival groups in Jazira, Shariatpur, on the morning of 5 April, over a dispute related to local dominance. The incident occurred in the Durbadanga area of Bilaspur Union, Jazira Upazila, where more than a hundred hand bombs were detonated during the confrontation. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far. According to local sources and police, the conflict stems from a prolonged power struggle between supporters of Bilaspur Union Chairman Kuddus Bepari and Swechchhasebak League leader Jalil Madbar, with several similar incidents reported in the past. On Saturday morning, a minor altercation escalated rapidly, resulting in a full-scale clash between the factions. Police later intervened and brought the situation under control. Meanwhile, a 15-second video capturing the violent exchange has gone viral on social media, particularly on Facebook. The footage shows both sides confronting each other in an open field, with individuals wearing helmets and carrying buckets from which they hurl hand bombs, causing loud explosions and clouds of smoke.
