Tarique Rahman said that, like any son, he yearns for his mother’s affection and the comfort of her presence
He said his family remains hopeful that once the political situation reaches the stage they anticipate, things will move forward accordingly.
BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia remains in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, where a medical board, including both local and foreign specialists, is overseeing her treatment. During this critical time, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has voiced his profound longing for his mother’s affection and presence.
He conveyed these emotions in a post on his verified Facebook page on Saturday morning.
“In a moment of such crisis, like any child, I too feel a deep yearning for my mother’s love and touch,” he wrote. “But unlike others, I do not have the unrestricted freedom or authority to act on that desire.”
He added, “There is little room to elaborate on this sensitive issue. Our family remains hopeful that once the political situation reaches the expected stage, my long and anxious wait to return home will finally be over.”
Tarique Rahman also said that Begum Khaleda Zia, former Prime Minister and a national leader, is critically ill and under intensive care. People from all walks of life, he noted, have been praying for her recovery, regardless of political affiliation. He added that the Chief Adviser has also prayed for her wellbeing and has pledged to ensure that she receives all necessary medical support.
