Tamim Iqbal hospitalized following a heart attack

Cricketer Tamim Iqbal fell ill during a Dhaka Premier League match at BKSP in Savar on Monday. He experienced severe chest pain and was immediately taken to Fazilatunnesa Hospital near BKSP.  

According to hospital sources, BCB medical department head Debashish Chowdhury confirmed that Tamim suffered two heart attacks. He is currently receiving treatment in the cardiac department. Match referee Debabrata Pal, who is at the hospital, reported that an angiogram revealed a blockage in his heart, but his condition is gradually improving.  

Mohammedan team official Tariqul Islam stated that plans were made to transfer Tamim to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. However, due to his condition not stabilizing enough for airlifting, he continues to receive treatment at Fazilatunnesa Hospital.  

Tamim, playing as captain for Mohammedan against Shinepukur at BKSP Ground 3, had participated in the toss before falling ill. He was given first aid at BKSP but was later shifted to the hospital when his condition did not improve.  

His wife, Ayesha Siddique, elder brother and former cricketer Nafees Iqbal, and other family members have already arrived at the hospital.  

Meanwhile, the 19th BCB board meeting, scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM today, has been postponed following the news of Tamim’s illness. BCB directors and officials have also rushed to the hospital to check on him.
