‘Shahid Farhan Faiyaz Road’: Dhanmondi Road 27 Gets New Name

Dhanmondi Road-27 has officially been renamed in honor of Shaheed Farhan Faiyaz, a martyr of the July 2024 student uprising.
“The new name of Dhanmondi Road-27 (old) is now ‘Shaheed Farhan Faiyaz Road’,” announced LGRD Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain in a post on his verified Facebook page on Saturday evening. He also noted that the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has unveiled a commemorative plaque marking the renaming.
Farhan Faiyaz, an intermediate student at Dhaka Residential Model College, was tragically shot dead on July 18, 2024, while leading a student protest against discrimination. He was killed between Rapa Plaza and Genetic Plaza on the then Dhanmondi Road-27 (old), a location now bearing his name as a tribute to his sacrifice.
