Ruhul Quddus Kazal has been appointed as the Attorney General

Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal has been appointed as the country’s new Attorney General, becoming the 18th person to hold the position. The announcement was made on Wednesday.

In an immediate reaction, Kazal posted “Alhamdulillah” on his verified Facebook account.

He is a member of the BNP’s National Executive Committee and also serves on the Bangladesh Bar Council. Kazal previously held the position of secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association. A graduate of the Law Department at the University of Dhaka, he became a member of the Supreme Court Bar Association in 1996.

He succeeds Mohammad Asaduzzaman, who stepped down from the role to contest the 13th National Parliamentary Election. Following his election as an MP, Asaduzzaman was appointed Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
