The Public Administration Reform Commission has proposed the creation of a capital metropolitan government for Dhaka, similar to the model in New Delhi. This government would encompass the Dhaka metropolis, along with Tongi, Keraniganj, Savar, and Narayanganj. Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, shared this information during a press briefing at the State Guest House Jamuna on Wednesday. In addition, the commission suggested restructuring the country's four divisions into provinces and proposed reducing the number of ministries to 25 and directorates to 44. Earlier that day, the Public Administration Reform Commission and the Judiciary Reform Commission submitted their reports to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at Jamuna. This followed the October formation of six reform commissions by the Cabinet Division, focusing on areas such as constitutional, electoral, anti-corruption, and police reforms. Reports from the Constitutional, Electoral System, Anti-Corruption, and Police Reform Commissions were already submitted to the chief adviser on January 15.
