Prime Minister Tarique Rahman launches ‘Family Card’ programme
In the initial phase, 37,567 households led by women across the country will receive a monthly allowance.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Tuesday inaugurated the ‘Family Card’ programme, aimed at ensuring financial security for low-income families.
The programme was formally launched around 11:00am at the T&T playground in Banani, next to the Korail slum in the capital.
Under the first phase of the initiative, 37,567 female-headed households across the country will receive a monthly allowance. According to government sources, the pilot programme is being implemented in 15 wards under 13 city corporations or unions across 13 districts.
Initially, data from 67,854 female-headed families were collected. Following verification, 47,777 families were found to have valid information, of which 37,567 were selected to receive the allowance in the programme’s first phase.
