Magura rape survivor succumbs to injuries
Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus extends heartfelt condolences over the incident
An eight-year-old girl from Magura, who was receiving treatment following a brutal assault, passed away at Dhaka's Combined Military Hospital (CMH) on Thursday at 1:00 pm.
The verified Facebook page of the Bangladesh Army confirmed the tragic news and extended deep condolences over the incident.
In a statement, the Army said, "With profound sorrow, we share that the young victim from Magura succumbed to her injuries today (13 March 2025) at 1:00 pm at Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Dhaka. (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji'un)." Despite access to the most advanced medical facilities and the relentless efforts of expert doctors, her life could not be saved. She suffered three cardiac arrests in the morning; though doctors managed to stabilize her twice, her heartbeat could not be revived the third time.
The child was admitted to Dhaka CMH in critical condition on 8 March.
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and has urged authorities to ensure swift justice for the perpetrators.
