Government forms committee to investigate Gopalganj violence

The interim government has constituted a committee to investigate the violence and fatalities that took place in Gopalganj on July 16, 2025.

Headed by Nasimul Ghani, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the committee also includes two additional secretaries—one each from the Ministry of Public Administration and the Ministry of Law and Justice.

According to a statement from the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing, the committee has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive investigation and submitting its report to the Chief Adviser’s Office within two weeks.

Reaffirming its commitment to justice and public order, the interim government stated that those found responsible for any unlawful activities or violence will be held accountable in accordance with the law.
