Lavrov Wishes Khalilur Success, Calls for Collective Global Action

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has wished Bangladesh Foreign Minister and UN General Assembly President Dr Khalilur Rahman success in his new role, while expressing hope that the Assembly’s current session will help countries address global challenges and threats through collective action.

Lavrov made the remarks during a meeting with Khalilur in New York on September 23, on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, according to a statement issued by the Russian embassy today.

The two discussed key issues on the session’s agenda and highlighted the General Assembly’s importance as a representative platform for dialogue among states.

They also emphasised the need to improve the atmosphere within the Assembly and revive mutually respectful dialogue among member states.

Lavrov voiced hope that the session would proceed professionally and without politicisation.
