Inqilab Moncho vows to continue street protests until justice for Hadi is ensured.

Inqilab Moncho, a platform representing last year’s uprising and its participants, announced on Friday evening that it would continue intense street protests in the capital, demanding justice for the killing of its spokesperson, Sharif Osman Hadi.

Speaking during a road blockade at the Shahbagh intersection, Inqilab Moncho Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber said the interim government could not step down without first arresting all those responsible for Hadi’s killing and ensuring justice.

Jaber said activists would spend the night at the busy intersection and maintain the blockade on Saturday. He also warned of further actions, including a possible siege of the Chief Adviser’s residence at State Guesthouse Jamuna, to “compel the government to take appropriate measures.”

Inqilab Moncho had set a 25 December deadline for the interim government to arrest Hadi’s killers. As the deadline passed without action, Jaber said the group would continue street demonstrations indefinitely.

Earlier in the day, around 2:00 pm, Inqilab Moncho activists performed Friday prayers at the Dhaka University Central Mosque before marching to the Shahbagh intersection, where they blocked the road. General students and members of the public later joined the protest.

Sharif Osman Hadi, a prominent figure in last year’s anti-fascist uprising and a prospective candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, was shot in the head aboard a campaign train in the capital’s Bijoynagar area. He later died from his injuries at a hospital in Singapore on 18 December.
