Seven Madrasa Students Killed in Rohingya Camp Landslide
The death toll is feared to increase, as around 20 other students remain trapped under the debris of a heavily damaged maktab.
At least seven children were killed after a landslide triggered the collapse of a madrasa building at a Rohingya refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday afternoon, as persistent rainfall heightened the risk of landslides across the country's southeastern region.
Around 20 other students remained trapped beneath the rubble of the heavily damaged madrasa building at Camp No. 5 in Ukhiya upazila, with authorities fearing the death toll could rise.
Two units of the Ukhiya Fire Service are carrying out rescue operations to free those trapped, Station Officer Dollar Tripura said.
