Holy Shab-e-Barat to be observed tonight
The holy Shab-e-Barat, known as the Night of Fortune, will be observed across the country tonight with due religious devotion and solemnity.
Marking the occasion, the Islamic Foundation has arranged special programmes at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the capital.
The programmes include waz (religious sermons), doa mahfil, special prayers, recitation from the Holy Quran, and Hamd-Naat at the mosque this evening.
In addition, mosques across the country will host sermons highlighting the significance of Shab-e-Barat after Maghrib prayers, followed by special munajat after Isha prayers.
On the occasion, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has issued a message extending greetings to Muslims at home and abroad.
On this sacred night, large numbers of devotees visit nearby graveyards to offer doa and munajat, seeking eternal peace for the departed souls of their loved ones.
People also mark the night by distributing money, food and sweetmeats among the poor and underprivileged.
