Government opts against implementing BSCIC project at Tannery Industrial Estate under PPP model

The government today gave in-principle approval to exclude the ‘Rectification and Upgradation of CETP and Establishment of SWM at BSCIC Tannery Industrial Estate, Dhaka’ project from implementation under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

The decision was made at the 19th meeting of the Council of Advisers’ Committee on Economic Affairs, held at the Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed presiding.

The meeting also approved a proposal from the Ministry of Shipping to take necessary steps, in accordance with the Public Procurement Act 2006 and Chittagong Port Authority Act 2022, to operate the New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) — including its overflow yard — under the Chittagong Port Authority’s (CPA) own management for six months or until a new operator is appointed.
